- areas near loft hatches or service penetrations lose heat faster,
- open landing spaces may feel warmer simply because heat is passing through them.
The result is a house that feels inconsistent, even when the heating system itself is working normally.
Why radiators rarely fix the problem
It’s natural to assume that a cold room needs more heat. In reality, adding more heat to a space that can’t retain it often just increases running costs without improving comfort.
Radiators respond to heat loss, but they don’t correct the underlying imbalance. As soon as the heating cycles off, the same rooms cool first all over again.

Contributing factors often include:

- roof areas that were never insulated properly,
- changes to loft layouts or storage compressing insulation,
